Physicians at Gastroen-terology Consultants, Ltd., staged a grand opening for their new clinic at the Carson Tahoe Regional Healthcare campus on Wednesday.
The nearly 15,000-square-foot building, 1385 Vista Lane, contains the only gastroenterology practice in Carson City, which diagnoses digestive and liver diseases.
The practice was established about 20 years ago, said John McAfee, a physician at the clinic. He said they have added new processing equipment for the scopes used in things such as colonoscopies.
Connie Brown, the director of operations, said plans for the new clinic started four years ago and building it took 11 months. About 150 people came to the grand opening on Wednesday night.
Shaheen Beauchamp Builders LLC., based in Carson City, constructed the building.
Brown said the practice performs about 5,000 endoscopic procedures and has about 10,000 clinic visits annually.
