RENO (AP) - A Washington, D.C., snowstorm has postponed Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid's scheduled testimony before a Senate panel considering a Clark County prosecutor for a seat on the federal bench in Nevada.

Aides to the Nevada Democrat said Wednesday that Reid will instead appear before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday.

President Obama nominated Gloria Navarro for U.S. District Court in Las Vegas in December on a recommendation from Reid.

The 42-year-old Navarro is a chief deputy Clark County district attorney. She's the daughter of Cuban immigrants who says Spanish was her first language.

Obama says Navarro embodies "evenhandeness, intellect, and spirit of service."

Reid says Navarro will bring a valuable perspective to the Nevada federal court bench.
