Magnitude 3.4 quake rattles southeastern San Diego County

SAN DIEGO - A magnitude 3.4 earthquake rattled a desert area in southeastern San Diego County but there are new reports of damage or injury.

The U.S. Geological Survey says the quake struck at 8:34 a.m. about 8 miles northeast of Jacumba, near the border with Mexico.

Sheriff's dispatchers in San Diego and Imperial counties say no damage or injuries have been reported.

Jacumba is about 70 miles southeast of downtown San Diego.
