Happy Valentine's Day! If you have no one to send flowers and candy to, we graciously make ourselves available to receive them.

The governor has called for the closing of the old prison in Carson City, however, we have a more creative solution. Remember, it started out as a hotel, so why not revert to one? There are now "Ice Hotels" in various countries, so why not a "prison hotel?" We bet there are many people who would think it was a lark, and pay to stay in a cell with, hopefully, a tad better clientele. It's the old "make lemonade" theory.

Lisa McDonald wants to thank Rudy and Randy at Precision CV Axles & Drivelines for fixing her truck in a fast and economical manner. She said they were so helpful, and that it was a great place for women to go and be treated honestly and respectfully. Thanks guys. Carolyn thanks Dr. Randy Wright and Carolynne for coming in on their day off to fix her teeth so that she could chow down at the St. Teresa's crab feed the next night ... it worked, she gobbled down a great deal of crab.

We had lunch with Barb McGee and June McIntyre at The Firkin & Fox last week. Barb "won" us in a raffle. Good time had by all. They were both "Calendar Girls."

Happy Birthdays to Mary Jo Meyer, and Adele and Ralph Quintel; and congratulations to Maggie Jesse and Isabel Coscarart for making the WNC dean's list.

They're back ... the Little Sisters of Hoboken will return to the Brewery Arts Center beginning Feb. 19 in "Nunsensations," the fifth incarnation of Dan Goggin's series of musicals set this time in Las Vegas. It will run for two weekends at 7:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and

2 p.m. on Sunday, the 21st. The 28th matinee is a fundraiser for the BAC (call them for details on performances, prices and reservations at 883-1976), and "someone you know and love" will be making a guest appearance.

Secret sources reveal that there is a Fantasy Golf game in progress wherein the "Fat Smelly Boys" are likely to take second place and win some money. Trouble is, no one will admit to being a "Fat Smelly Boy," which brings up the question, "Who will claim the dough?" Rumors have it that Skip Thurman and John Bibee are the culprits, but that has been denied by said suspects. Hmmmm... "he that protests too much..."

Questions and solutions: If Sarah Palin runs for president in 2012, will Dick Cheney or Kevin Federline be her running mate? If the state is overrun by Mormon crickets, why don't we deep fry them, coat them with teriyaki, and sell them to make up the deficit? Just curious.

Super Bowl ad winners ... Dorito's, and Snickers (with Betty White and Abe Vigoda); but hands down, the KGB Sumo wrestlers were a riot. The rest were pretty much ho-hum. Maybe next year.

Enjoy the Olympics!
