Carson City Health Department's food-service inspections for Jan. 26-Feb.8 (all scores are on a 100-point scale, with points deducted depending on the severity of violations:

• Pho Country Restaurant, 2495 N. Carson St., scored 94 points. Chlorine residual of less than 50 ppm is detected on dishware after mechanical final rinse. Several attempts were made to prime the sanitizer. Repeat violation - found open cans of liquid foods stored on the dry storage shelves and inside one reach-in. Found a bag of onions stored on the floor. Found prepared spring rolls containing cooked shrimp stored in an open container at room temperature. Found cloth towels covering foods (noodles) at room temperature. Found covered container of gravy in the walk-in having an internal temperature of 70-80 F.

• Pho Country Restaurant, 2495 N. Carson St., followup, scored 98 points. Found spring rolls containing cooked shrimp held at room temperature, except for a layer on ice on the bottom of the container. Cloth towels are not to be used to cover foods that are held at room temperature.

• Jack In The Box #7320 Restaurant, 3225 Retail Dr., scored 100 points.

• Sonic Drive In, 1856 E. College Parkway, scored 100 points.

• The Daily Detour food facility, 1263 S. Stewart St., scored 100 points.

• Plaza Hotel and Conference Restaurant, 801 S. Carson St., scored 97 points. No certified food handler was present at the time of this inspection.

• Bamboo Garden Sushi Bar, 3735 S. Carson St., scored 100 points.

• Bamboo Garden Restaurant Qin Song, 3735 S. Carson St., scored 100 points.

• Les Schwab Tire Centers Wholesale Distributing, 3020 S. Carson St., scored 100 points.

• Winnie Discount Liquor and Grocery, 262 W. Winnie Lane, scored 97 points. The ice bags were not labeled as required with the store name and location. Cleaning and maintenance tools are not properly stored. The mop bucket was found with dirty water in it. There was no "No Smoking" sign at the entrance.

• Capitol Shell Convenience Store, 1462 S. Carson St., scored 98 points. Food contact surfaces of the inside of the ice machine were not clean. Debris had accumulated on the bottom edge of the plastic ice cube shield.

• Arco AM/PM #82341 Convenience Store, 4190 S. Carson St., scored 100 points.

• Jack In The Box #7304 Restaurant, 3665 S. Carson St., scored 99 points. Non-food contact surfaces of the three-compartment sink are not clean. There is a space between the backsplash shield and the wall that has discolored.

• Arco AM/PM #82392 Convenience Store, 720 S. Carson St., scored 100 points.

• Garibaldi's Restaurant, 307 N. Carson St., scored 93 points. Packaged chicken is being thawed in a manner that does not minimize microbial growth. Found two whole packaged chickens setting in a pan and having a surface temperature of 57.8 F. Found another container nearby of packaged chicken breasts thawing in water. Found opened cans of Mandarin oranges stored in the reach-in opposite the grill. Found containers of foods stored on top of and in direct contact with other foods underneath (box of avocados stored on top of green beans in the walk-in, container of raw scallops on top of/in container of vegetables, containers of breading mix obs.) At least one employee of this establishment must be a certified food handler.

• Red's Old 395 Grill Bar/Lounge, 1055 S. Carson St., scored 100 points.

• Red's Old 395 Grill Caterer, 1055 S. Carson St., scored 100 points.

• Red's Old 395 Grill Restaurant, 1055 S. Carson St., scored 96 points. Various foods were found stored in the walk-in cooler in containers that were unlabeled. Specifically, hamburger and other meats were not labeled with date and common name. Various foods (flour, cornmeal, rib-rub) removed from original containers were found stored in containers without covers or covers that did not completely prevent the possibility of contamination. Cloths used on food-contact surfaces were found stored in buckets that did not contain enough sanitizer residual.
