BEREA, Ohio (AP) - The Cleveland Browns have released running back Jamal Lewis.

Lewis' season ended on Dec. 2 when he was placed on injured reserve with post-concussion symptoms.

After Cleveland's final game, Lewis revealed that he was still suffering from headaches and blurred vision as a result of the concussion, which he sustained in the season opener against Minnesota.

He tried to play through it for three months before finally getting examined. Lewis carried 143 times last year for 500 yards. He did not score a touchdown.

Lewis said halfway through the season that it would be his last. But following the finale, he said he wasn't sure if he would try to make a comeback because he didn't want an injury to end his career.
