SANTA ROSA, Calif. - A Santa Rosa man remains behind bars after pleading not guilty to charges that he kidnapped, held captive and raped a woman for three days in a mobile home.

During a court appearance Thursday, John Negrete-Gomez pleaded not guilty to eight counts including rape, kidnapping and torture.

Prosecutors say the 58-year-old suspect was arrested after deputies found the alleged victim confined by restraints in his Santa Rosa mobile home last Friday.

The 40-year-old woman told authorities she had been held captive for three days. Her name has not been released.

Negrete-Gomez is being held on $2.1. million bail. The judge in the case denied a request to lower the bail, but set a settlement conference for Feb. 26.

Attempts to reach the attorney representing Negrete-Gomez late Friday were unsuccessful.
