When Fleet Feet shut down its Carson City store in December, many of the running programs it sponsored also disappeared.

However, Ascent Physical Therapy is bringing some of them back.

Among the most popular is the Winter Trail Series, giving runners the chance to compete during the colder months.

Owner Tammie Bigley said there wasn't time to organize races throughout the season, but two have been planned.

The first run, called the Washoes After 5 Mile-ish, will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday at Washoe State Park.

The second, the Centennial Slug It Out 10K, will be 8 a.m. April 3 at Centennial Park.

Entry is $20 per event per person. Race updates will be e-mailed a couple of days before the events.

Both courses will be 100 percent dirt.

An e-mail for the races said to "expect steep ups and downs, poor footing in places and a good time."

There will be no aid offered on the courses, although there will be a sweep runner in case of an emergency.

Races will go on regardless of weather.

Each participant will receive one shirt for their entry into one or both events.

Refreshments will be provided after each race.
