Special session: Raggio: Anti-tax zealots don't see impact of cuts

(AP) - Senate Majority Leader Bill Raggio says lawmakers who continue to oppose any revenue increases don't fully understand how badly massive budget cuts will impact education, health and social services.

The senior Reno Republican said on KRNV-TV's "Nevada Newsmakers" on Thursday he is not advocating tax hikes but that too many anti-tax zealots are using misinformation to advance their own political agenda during the special legislative session in Carson City this week.

Raggio says Nevada is tied with Alaska as the lowest per-capita tax state in the nation. Nevada also has the fewest per capita number of state workers and the lowest per capita spending.
