A Carson City man was arrested Friday afternoon in the stabbing last Sunday outside a party on Highway 50 East. Nick Brown, 19, was booked into the Carson City Jail on suspicion of battery with a deadly weapon.

About 2 a.m. Sunday a fight erupted between two men at a party at the Dos Amigos Meat Market, said Sheriff's Detective Capt. Ken Sandage. Allan Mayoral-Ortiz, 23, was stabbed five times in abdomen. The assailant fled.

Sandage said witnesses gave investigators a description of the suspect which led them to Brown.

Detectives allegedly recovered the described clothing at his parent's home during his arrest.

Sandage said it's unclear if the incident was gang related. Brown is a confessed gang member, said Sandage. The victim's alleged connection to a rival gang has not been confirmed.

Mayoral-Ortiz is recovering after emergency surgery Sunday.

Brown is being held on $75,000 bail.
