Create a civil war wardrobe

The VC Sewing B will be lending its talents to helping ladies create their own Civil War costumes on a budget.

Carolyne and Yvonne will be hosting the VC Sewing B, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. the first and third Saturday of each month from now through June at the Tahoe House Hotel in Virginia City.

Bring your own sewing machine and sewing basket of tools or call to make arrangements to rent the equipment needed.

Participants will be making "open drawers" out of pillowcases, petticoats out of bed ruffles, chemise, corset cover and learning how to construct your very own corset as well as your basic day dress. Build a Civil War reenactors wardrobe without having to spend too much.

For information on class fees and to reserve a space, call Carolyne at 775-847-5264, or Yvonne at 775-781-7917. The Tahoe House Hotel is located at 162 S. C St., in the center of Virginia City.
