GOP candidate Tarkanian sets rural tour this week

Danny Tarkanian, a Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate seat held by Harry Reid, has scheduled a rural tour this week beginning in Tonopah.

Tarkanian will begin Thursday with a meet and greet at the Tonopah Convention Center.

He continues that evening with a 5 p.m. event at the El Capitan in Hawthorne and an 8 p.m. event at Round Table Pizza in Yerington.

Friday, Tarkanian will hold three events to meet potential voters beginning in Minden at 11 a.m. in the Carson Valley Inn. He will be at Mary and Moe's Wigwam in Fernley at 3 p.m. and the Fallon Elk's Lodge at

5:30 p.m.

He plans events in Lovelock, Winnemucca, Battle Mountain and Elko for Saturday then events in Eureka, Ely and Pioche on Sunday.

Tarkanian is one of a dozen GOP candidates vying for the Republican nomination in the Senate race.
