Greenhouse Garden Center staff are planning several workshops in July.

All About Pond Plants is the topic for 9 a.m. July 10. Beyond water lilies, water hyacinths, and cat tails there are many unique and interesting pond plants, both annual and perennial, that can be great additions to your pond environment.

All About Composting is scheduled for 9 a.m. July 17. In the summer many of us have grass clippings, flowers that have gone by, and a variety of organic matter waiting at the curbside for the weekly garbage pick-up. Summer is a great time to start composting. It's a nice organic approach to utilizing all of that green stuff you don't know what to do with.

David Ruf, owner of the center, will present these free seminars.

At 10 a.m. July 31 10 a.m., learn how to Get the Most Out of Local Farmers Markets. Linda Marrone, Downtown Farmers Market Manager, will be the guest speaker for this free seminar. She will talk about buying local, buying fresh, and what to do with the all the produce you can't eat.

Greenhouse Garden Center is located at 2450 S Curry St. For more information, call 775-882-8600.

Through October on Sundays only, the garden center will accept used plant pots for recycling. Bring in your pots and you can enter a monthly drawing.
