Obituary: Robert E. (Bob) Lechien

Robert E. (Bob) Lechien, 77, died July 12, 2010. He was born in San Diego County on Feb. 2, 1933, to Nickolas and Marie Lechien. Bob retired from the San Diego County Sheriff Department after 26 years of service. He then worked another 20 years at FlowServe Engineering in Temecula, Calif.

He is survived by his wife Linda; sister Yvonne Lechien; daughters Valerie Jeffrey and Sharyn Boles; stepsons Richard, Tim and David Slater; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

After his two retirements, Bob and Linda moved to Gardnerville in 2001. Bob was active in the Douglas County Citizen Patrol and Carson Valley Footprinters, and attended Hilltop Community Church. He was an avid fisherman and active in the Australian Shepherd Rescue program. Bob and Linda enjoyed traveling with the Good Sam Desert Vagabonds and Washoe Winnies RV chapters.

The memorial service for Bob, a Celebration of Love and Life, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 31 at Hilltop Community Church, 3588 Romans Road, Carson City. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Citizen Patrol, c/o Douglas County Sheriff, P.O. Box 218, Minden, NV 89423.
