Iris Mae Forster, was born Nov. 1, 1926, in Moscow, Idaho, to parents Juanita Hanne and Raymond Clement Gavin. She lived during her childhood in Butte, Mont., during the Great Depression. The family then moved to Spokane, Wash., where she received her education and met and married Alban Forster on May 7, 1949, her husband for 60-plus years. Later she moved to the San Fernando Valley, Calif., attaining a degree in art. She loved oil painting, bookkeeping and reading. She later moved to Carson City, enjoying the scenery, birds and drier climate.
She kept active as a volunteer for RSVP senior program and was a member of the Carson City Historical Society and Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxillary.
She is survived by son Craig; sisters-in-law Jean Forster in Bothell, Wash., Louise Gavin in La Crosse, Wisc., Ione Montgomery in LaLuz, N.M., Joyce and Barrie Baird in Spokane, and numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be no services per Iris' wishes.
