Carson City's Babe Ruth 14-year-old all-star team knocked off South Tahoe 13-3 to advance to the semifinals of the state tournament at Lampe Park.
Carson will play South Reno today at 6 p.m.
With the score tied at 1-all in the third, Carson loaded the bases in the top of the third on hits by TJ Thompson, Nevin Elliot and Luke Maher. With two outs and two strikes, Joe Runge launched a bases-clearing double to the left field wall to give Carson a 4-1 lead.
Carson tacked on a run in the fourth on a run-scoring single by Elliott which scored Chase Blueberg. Carson blew the game open in the fifth, scoring six runs on hits by Jace Zampiro,Cody Schmidlin and Dominic Norton. Carson added two more runs in the top of the seventh.
Chase Blueberg pitched the first four innings, yielding two hits and giving up two runs. He was followed to the mound by Schmidlin. Jay Milligan, Gehrig Tucker and Maher.
Zampiro, Maher and Thomsen each had two hits.
Carson 15s eliminated
The Carson City Babe Ruth all-stars were eliminated over the weekend in the Northern Nevada Babe Ruth Tournament.
On Sunday, Carson City dropped a 10-3 decision to South Reno, and on Monday lost a tight 2-0 decision to South Tahoe.
South Reno scored four in the first, but Carson came back with one in each of the first three inning. South Reno scored six unanswered runs to win going away.
Logan Krupp lead the team with two hits, including an inside-the-par homer. Casey Wolfe, Tyler Valley, David Yamamoto, and Cody Reno each had one hit apiece.
David Yamamoto was the losing pitcher throwing five innings, yielding eight hits and four walks. Danny Bacon threw the last two innings, giving up four hits and no walks.
On Monday, Wolfe pitched a complete game against with only 82 pitches but could not get run support to get the win.
Wolfe gave up seven hits and walked one in seven innings. South Tahoe was able to string a couple of hits together to get its runs across, something Carson was unable to do.
Jason Rush and Jordan Luhrs each had two hits while Valley and Wolfe each had one.
Washoe eliminates
Carson in District 1
Carson City fell short in its bid to win the District 1 Little League all-star tournament that concluded Monday at Governors Field.
Washoe recorded a 15-5 win over Carson, its second 10-run win over the locals in the tournament.
Connor Pradere led the Carson offense with three hits, while Shane Andrews and P.J. White added two apiece.
The game was tied early at 4-all, as Carson knocked Washoe ace Tommy Lichty out of the box. However, Carson's offense went quiet after that early outburst, and Washoe kept scoring.

swims in Calif.
Brett Kolb and Sophie Holmes participated in the Adam Szmidt Memorial in Northern California over the weekend.
Kolb, swimming in the 9-10 age group, swam close to his best time in the 50-meter backstroke, 46.89, to finish in 48th place.
In 15-16 girls, Holmes finished 29th in the 100-meter breastroke and 34th in the 200-meter breastroke.
Boykin, Harn win
at Eagle Valley
Kim Boykin shot a 79 to win low gross and Carrie Harn won let net with a 65 at the Eagle Valley President's Cup on July 14.
Robin Ponte (81), Maggie Abbett (91), Carol Casella (97) and Beth White (112) were the low gross winners in the four flights. Angie Scrivner (71) and Joyce Guy (71) were low net first flight winners. Annette Ramirez (67), Gerri Murphy (67) and Shirley Shearer and Dolores Hall were low net winners.
Two teams tie for
scramble crown
The teams of Pete Rogney and Frank Nieto, and the team of Isaac Lockwood and Brian Burchett tied for first place with 58s in the Carson Valley Men's Club Two-Man scramble event on Sunday.
In the second flight, Gary and Jeff Schrieber tied with Neil Bain and Brick Ludington. Both team finished at 57.
Big Dogs lead
Mosconi Division
The Big Dogs hold a three-point lead over Cues Yer Daddy in the Mosconi Division of the Carson City Chapter of the American Poolplayers Association.
David Giovacchini of Jerry's Kids leads the 6-7 tier with 22 points, one ahead of James Underwood of Squeeze Play. Dennis Sisson Jr. of Big Dogs leads the 4-5 tier with 23 points, three ahead of Kirsten Kehe of Twisted Stix and Daniel McRae of Rack Fink. Fun Tickets teammates Anthony Cupp and Justin Harris lead the 2-3 tier with 16 points apiece.
In the Comstock Division, 9-Spoke leads the way with 633 points, five better than Twisted Stix.
McRae, who plays for Cornbread & Whiskey, leads the 6-9 tier with 33 points. Robert Wilson of Poke 'N' Hope leads the 4-5 tier with 29 points, five ahead of Jason Kochamp of All Work & No Play. Gloria Rodriguez of Twisted Stix leads the 1-3 tier with 21 points, three ahead of 9-Spoke's Derek Garnett.
Cable wakeboard lake open in Minden
Western Oasis Wakeplace, located in Minden, is the West Coast's largest cable wakeboard lake.
The company held a wakeboarding camp recently that was a big success. A full listing of summer camps can be found at www.wowwakeplace.com.
"Our goal is to help grow the sport," said Doug Lippincott, owner of Western Oasis Wakeplace. "We wanted to provide a place where wakeboarders and skiers could do what they love without the expenses of a boat."
The cable wakeboard lake, which is 350 feet wide, 3200 feet long and seven feet deep, consists of three System 2.0 cables. The three different cable courses provide a different skill level so that all riders, from beginner to advanced, can benefit.
WOW is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. May through October.
The facility offers full wakeboard and equipment rentals including boards, helmets and life vests and boots.
