An ambitious, courageous, remarkable, woman by the name of Viola Simeral died at the age of 93 on July 25, 2010. Viola Simeral was born Oct. 23, 1916, in Holt County, Mo. She is survived by her daughters Charlotte Pettit and Shirley Snowden, her son Bill Nichols, and 68 grandchildren.

Viola was one of seven children. She survived the Great Depression, and worked to help support her family while attending school at the young age of 14. She enjoyed spending time with her family and reading books. Among her many achievements in life, encouraging and empowering her family was most notable.
