(AP) - Former Nevada Gov. Kenny Guinn has been buried in his hometown of Exeter, Calif., after a graveside ceremony attended by more than 150 family members and friends.
Exeter District Cemetery Manager Roy Nelson said a police escort accompanied the body of Nevada's 27th governor from an airport in nearby Visalia, Calif., for the Thursday morning ceremony.
Guinn grew up in Exeter, where he met his wife, Dema. He moved to Nevada in 1964 as a Clark County school administrator.
Blue and silver ribbons placed along the wrought-iron fence at the Capitol last week in memory of former Gov. Kenny Guinn will be removed Friday afternoon.
Dave Smith, whose family owns the Carson Flag Store, said anyone who would like to take one of the ribbons as a memento is encouraged to do so in the morning.
"We ask that they make a donation to the Millennium Scholarship fund because the Treasurer's Office is right there in the Capitol," Smith said.
