The Carson Middle School basketball camp is schedule for June 8 to 11 at the Carson Middle School gymnasium.
The tuition is $120, which includes four days of instruction and a T-shirt. CMS coaches Doug Whisler and John Paulson are heading up the camp. The camp is open to players entering grades four through nine in the fall.
The girls' session runs each day from 8:30 to 11:20 a.m. The boys' session starts at 12:30 p.m. and ends at 3:20.

Boykin wins low gross
at Eagle Valley
Kim Boykin shot a 35 to win low gross honors in the Mutt and Jeff women's tourney at Eagle Valley-East on May 26.
She also won closest-to-the-hole honors when her tee shot at No. 17 finsihed 10-feet 8-inches from the cup.
Angie Scrivner was second in low gross with a 37. Loretta Szymanski won low net with a 23.5, while Amy Phelps was second with a 25.5.
Three teams tie
in 2-man best ball
The teams of Isaac Lockwood and Roger Hala, Daryle Lewis and Robert McLean, and Russ Coons and John Dorman fired low net 64s to to tie for first in the first flight in the Carson Valley Men's Club 2-man best ball tournament.
Brick Ludington and Jack Zippwald shot a net 67 o win top honors in the second flight. The teams of Mike Breckenridge and John Carey, and John Guidicatti and Neil Bain shot 69s to tie for second place.
McLean won closest to the hole on No. 1 (22-feet) and John Murray won on No. 13 (12-6).
Sullivan, Bennert
tie for top spot
Leland Sullivan and Mike Bennert tied for first place with 39s in the Thunder Canyon Men's Club Mutt and Jeff tournament on May 28.
Carl Baker and Mitch Watts tied for third with 40s, while Jonathan Singer, Bob Oglesby, Dave Westfall and Bob Pike all shot 41s.
Mitch Watts won closest to the hole on No. 8 (17-4).
Hazel Bowen, Kathy Cockerill, Linda Ye and Bianca Daykin won in match play competiton at the Thunder Canyon Ladies Club event on May 27.
Bowen defeated Pam Whalen 10.5-9.5. Cockerill knocked off Theresa Beggs 13.5-6.5, Ye defeated Susie Riley 14-6 and Daykin defeated Linda Bellegray 14.5-5.5
Peavine Challenge
set for June 6
The 18th annual Peavine Challenge Mountain Bike Race is set for Sunday in Reno.
The event is presented by the Reno Wheelmen and sanctioned by USA Cycling. It is the second race in the Nevada Cup State Championship Series, a four-race point series to determine the Nevada State Mountain Bike Champions. Top finishers at this event will also qualify to enter the National Mountain Bike Championship later this summer in Colorado.
The race starts and finishes in Rancho San Rafael Park. The race begins at 9 a.m.

Excel Football, a full-contact football program, has scheduled its all-star games on Saturday at James Lee Park.
Games are scheduld for 11:30 a.m., 2:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.
Pop Warner signups
set for tonight
Carson City Pop Warner, a non-profit organization, is holding signups tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at Q's BBQ located at 230 Fairview St.
The program is open to boys and girls between the ages of 5 and 15. Practice starts Aug. 2.
Football Registration is $125, which includes jerseys and socks. Cheer registration is $60 which is an administration fee. Fundraising is available to cover cost of uniforms.

Swimming fundraiser
scheduled in Reno
RENO - Northern Nevada needs a new community pool, and Sierra Nevada Community Aquatics (SNCA) is leading the way to make it a reality. Since the closure of the Moana Pool complex in 2007, area residents have been left with few choices for family swimming, water therapy and safety classes, club swimming and school/team aquatics programs.
SNCA's community fundraiser "An Evening with the Olympians" will be held at the Peppermill June 5. This family-friendly event is open to the public from 5 to 9 p.m. and towels will be provided for those who would like to swim.
This community fundraiser will feature autograph signings by Rowdy Gaines, Cullen Jones and Jason Lezak, all past and present Olympic gold medalists, as well as a BBQ dinner buffet, beverages and auction items.

Final SYFL signups
set for Saturday
The final Sierra Youth Football League signup session is scheduled for Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Pizza Factory. located on Highway 50.
A rregistration fee of $180 includes a personalized game jersey, practice jersey, integrated girdle, socks, and participation trophy.

Pocket Puppies has 220, eight better than Dean's Machine. Twisted Stix With Attitudes is third at 211.
Daniel McRae of Cornbread & Whiskey leads the 6-9 tier with nine points, and Chris Wood of Rattlers is second with seven. Robert Wilson of Poke n Hope and Christopher Skelley of Dean's Machine are tied for first in the 4-5 tier with 12 points. James Panos of Scratch Masters leads the 1-3 tier with 11 points, two better than Jason Brendel.
