Heller easily advances to general election

Rep. Dean Heller, R-Nv., easily advanced to the general election Tuesday night with a four to one victory margin over Patrick Colletti.

"We're not going to treat this any different than we have in the previous two races in Congress," he said from his Washington D.C. office. "In fact, we worked hard this primary too, went to every parade. We're not taking it for granted. I'll be in Douglas County for Carson Valley Days and at the Reno Rodeo next week."

He said he can't take the race for granted even though neither Nancy Price nor Ken McKenna has much money or backing.

"The sentiment out there isn't pro incumbent right now," Heller said.

Asked about his goals if and when he wins a third term in the House, he said he will continue emphasizing the issues that are most important to the district.

"Obviously the most important issue I hear in my district right now is the economy and jobs," Heller said. "I don't care what other issues are going on in Washington D.C. right now, it'll be 80-20 whatever the other issue is. They want the economy moving. They want jobs."
