The Carson Valley Quilt Guild will hold a quilt show 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Carson High School, 1111 N. Saliman Rd.

Quilts by Reno artist Carolyn Susac will be featured.

Susac began quilting after noticing magazines and books about quilting at the library in Reno. She appreciated the beauty of the designs and liked the way colors were put together.

Among the awards her quilts have won is the 2007, American Quilter's Society Merit Award at the show in Paducah, Ky., for her wall quilt, "A little Bit of Baltimore." Theaward is the highest award given for workmanship.

Susac lets the design of a quilt determine the material used. In her award winning "Garden Harvest" miniature quilt, most of the fabric is her own hand-dyed material.

Susac is a quilting judge, teacher and author of "The Hearts and Flowers Quilt Book." She enjoys judging, which gives her a chance to see what people locally are doing and what they can accomplish with the techniques that they have learned.

Admission to the Carson Valley Quilt Guild show is $6. For more information visit the CVQG web site at www.cvqg.com.
