Dobson's Dream, the Awful End (continued from Thursday): Then came a break in stocks, the bottom fell out of the ledge, the north end was a failure and skeletons began to flee the sinking town. They took possession of the train, and it was a case of every man for himself and the devil for the hindmost. Then the Washoe gale came up in its fury and swept through the stricken city with a roar of an expiring universe. (continued Saturday).

100 YEARS AGO

A letter was read from Fran J. Lyons at the Sagebrush Carnival meeting stating that at Alameda, Baldwin, one of the world's great aeronauts, will make a tryout with his new aeroplane. If the demonstration works out today, he will make way to this city for the carnival. He is known not only for his flying skill, but also for his daredevil disposition. Baldwin's arrival will surely be a truly out-of-the ordinary event.

70 YEARS AGO

Harold J. Berger, according to reports, took top honors for Carson fishermen by catching a 14 1⁄2 pound Mackinaw trout in Lake Tahoe.

50 YEARS AGO

Chief grayback Rue Morris presided at the meeting of Do Carette Cootiette club in Heroes Memorial Building. Elvina Wilslef was installed grand crummy chaser by Irene Greenhalgh, grand chief grayback of Nevada.

20 YEARS AGO

The history of Rye Patch Dam is highlighted in a story by Phillip I. Earl. The general area is one of Nevada's oldest and most historic. Peter Skene Ogden led a Hudson Bay Company trapping party down the Humboldt in May 1829, followed by Kit Carson and thousands of overland immigrants.
