The Highwaymen Take the Field. There is at present a noticeable revival in the stage robbing industry, and the stopping of two stages on the same bend of the road indicates that the men who assume the risks and uncertainties of the business are meeting with substantial encouragement. During the coming season, there will be a general revival in that branch of Nevada's industry all over the state and those who have lost money in stocks will find the highways leading to Bodie and Placerville a profitable field. Residents of Carson who feel compelled to adopt the business should purchase their breech-loading shotguns of John G. Fox.
100 YEARS AGO
The Joe Kelly Store, which has been closed for some time passed, will open again on the 20th of the month under the Carson City Grocery Company. It will continue to be a grocery and will be operated under the management of Arthur Meyers. On that date, Meyers Mercantile Co. will stop handling groceries and deal exclusively in hardware, intending to carry the most complete stock that can be found anywhere in Nevada.

As chairman of the mightiest committee of the United States Senate - foreign relations - Senator Key Pittman of Nevada since the outbreak of the second world war has occupied the center of the congressional stage and has wielded influence second only to the president and secretary of state.

The Sierra Softball Assn. will start league play Friday with a double-header beginning at 6 p.m. With Carson 20-30 meeting Conner's Jewelers. It will be Murdock's against the Golden Bubble in the second game. Friday Virginia City will play Stewart and Carson City Nugget will play the highway department.
