Douglas commissioners obscuring water fund facts

When the (Douglas County) commissioners speak about past subsidies received by the water funds, I wish they would speak accurately. They claim that East Valley received huge subsidies, but fail to recognize the facts.

Michael Brown's PowerPoint chart shows Zephyr Water received the most followed by Cave Rock.

Breaking it down to dollars per single family residence equivalent dwelling unit (SFR EDU), Fairgrounds/Sunrise received $33,500/SFR EDU, Sheridan Acres $18,600 and down the list the East Valley received least of all at $1,500/SFR EDU.

The consolidation plan proposes to spend another $75,000 per SFR EDU at Fairgrounds for a total of $108,500. They have yet to tell us for what.

Neither the staff nor commissioners know how many signed the petitions they received against the consolidation. Don't they want to know or care what their constituents think?

Brown immediately rejected a proposal for a citizen oversight committee should the consolidation be adopted. Where is the transparency? What is he afraid of? Are there some hidden nefarious activities or games taking place? He claimed that the county could manage the consolidated fund, but they have yet to prove they have that capability.

If they have been working on the water issue since 1989, what have they been doing for the last 11 years besides mismanaging the funds? Did Kelly Kite, Dan Holler and Carl Ruschmeyer have their heads in the sand?
