(AP) - Gov. Jim Gibbons says he is confident a federal judge will deny the Justice Department's motion to dismiss a lawsuit by Nevada and 19 other states challenging President Obama's health care overhaul.
The Republican Gibbons calls it the "Reid/Obama Nationalized Health Care plan," a reference to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. He says the move by Justice Department lawyers suggests the states may have a better chance than some think to win the suit and block the reforms.
If not, Gibbons said Thursday the new program "will crush working families" and burden Nevada taxpayers with $600 million in new costs.
Gibbons' leaves office in January after becoming the first sitting governor in state history to lose a party primary in his bid for re-election earlier this month.
