A ranger will lead a hike to the top of Duck Hill at 9:30 a.m. June 26 at Washoe Lake State Park to hear local hang-gliding expert Bill Cuddy from Nevada Wings discuss the sport of hang gliding. After the talk, participants can watch hang gliders launch, weather permitting.

The hike is moderately strenuous - about four miles round trip and the program is suggested for ages 10 and older. Hiking boots are recommended.

In honor of Nevada State Parks' 75th anniversary, all participants will be eligible for a 75th anniversary memorabilia prize drawing. All children will receive a prize.

Visitors will meet at the main entrance to Washoe Lake State Park, which is the hang gliding zone.

For those not interested in the hike, they can meet at the main park entrance after 11 a.m. and watch the hang gliders land.

The program is free, but there is a per vehicle entrance fee of $7 with a $2 discount for Nevada residents. The event is expected to end by noon.
