MINDEN - A 21-year-old man, accused of stealing twice from his mother to finance a heroin addiction, was in custody this week after he was extradited from California.
Tyler Scott Schroeder is set for a court appearance June 23 in East Fork Justice Court. He was charged with burglary and possession of stolen property and was being held in Douglas County Jail on $57,122 cash bail.
Deputies returned Schroeder to Douglas County after he was arrested in Orange County, Calif., for allegedly shoplifting.
He is accused of stealing thousands of dollars worth of electronic equipment and video games from his mother's residence in March, which he reportedly pawned for a few hundred dollars to pay off a $260 debt.

The stolen items included a laptop, iPods, Nintendo games and a Wii motion sensor.
He was extradited from Orange County last week.
In August 2009, Schroeder was sentenced to Western Regional Drug Court in lieu of prison after he stole $3,000 in jewelry from his mother, a television from the Village Motel and walked out of Rancho Grande restaurant without paying his bill.
Schroeder's lawyer, Tod Young, said Wednesday his client has several pending cases and an appearance next week in drug court.
