130 YEARS AGO

Charges made against the Carson Water Company by the Grand Jury have received unanimous support from businessmen and taxpayers this past week. It is said that past Grand Juries have been afraid of the Water Company, but the issue has not been brought forth with such finality as this has. When the Grand Jury directs the Trustees to deliver the citizens from the grip of a monopoly while wringing money out of the treasury for work poorly done. The city of Carson cannot afford to run the risk of being destroyed by fire.

100 YEARS AGO

Ivy Baldwin, who perfected parachute drops from balloons, will attempt the impossible during Carson City's Sagebrush Carnival by flying his aeroplane to new heights, and setting new records. Every child knows of Baldwin's epic stunts as a balloonist, and crossing the Colorado Canyon an eighth mile up on a steel cable.

70 YEARS AGO

Ormsby County's auto camps have the best rating of the whole state, according to W.W. White, head of the division of public health. In a survey of Nevada's 184 auto camps, 22 percent are rated "class A."

50 YEARS AGO

Warren Engine Co. has received a half-ton GMC pickup for resuscitator and general utility work, chief Lester Growth said today. Resuscitator calls have been made previously by private car.

20 YEARS AGO

A potential water grab by an out-of-state water consortium has set off alarms with the Carson Water Subconservancy District. The group has applied for 1,000 acre feet of water for storage in Douglas County's Mud Lake.
