(AP) - Convicted murderer Darren Mack has lost his appeal before the Nevada Supreme Court.

The former Reno pawn shop owner had argued that a district court judge should have allowed him to withdraw his guilty plea in the killing of his estranged wife and shooting of the judge handling their divorce.

Mack claimed he was coerced into pleading guilty to killing Charla Mack in June 2006. He said he didn't understand what he was doing and didn't know that if he went to trial there was a chance he might have gotten off with a charge of manslaughter based on a self-defense strategy.

The high court justices disagreed.
