Phillies 11, Blue Jays 2

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Jamie Moyer gave up his record-breaking 506th home run but was sharp otherwise, and the Philadelphia Phillies took advantage of Toronto's troubles to beat the Blue Jays 11-2 Sunday.

Moyer only mistake was a two-run homer by Vernon Wells in the third inning. Moyer passed former Phillies Hall of Famer Robin Roberts for the most homers allowed in a career.

The Blue Jays made a season-high four errors, including a pair by second baseman Aaron Hill, that set up six unearned runs.

The 47-year-old Moyer (9-6), whose mound opponent wasn't even born when he made his major league debut, gave up two runs and six hits in seven innings. He struck out seven and walked none.

Moyer made his big league debut on June 16, 1986, 16 days before Toronto starter Brett Cecil (7-5) was born.

Yankees 8, Dodgers 6

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Robinson Cano hit a two-run homer in the 10th inning after the Yankees rallied with four runs in the ninth off Dodgers closer Jonathan Broxton.

Mark Teixeira led off the 10th with a single off Ramon Troncoso (1-2) and Alex Rodriguez grounded into a force play. Torre brought in left-hander George Sherrill, whose second pitch was driven into the left-field pavilion by Cano for his 15th homer.

Mariano Rivera (2-1) pitched two scoreless innings to get the victory.

The Dodgers have lost eight of their last 10 games.

Rangers 10, Astros 1

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) - Josh Hamilton extended his hitting streak to 21 games with the second-longest home run ever at Rangers Ballpark.

Hamilton's two-run homer in the second was a 468-foot drive several rows into the upper deck in right-center field, way above the Rangers bullpen. His 18th homer of the season put Texas ahead to stay against Roy Oswalt (5-10), whom AL West-leading Texas has expressed interest in acquiring.

The Rangers (46-29) are 20-5 in June and matched a franchise record by winning their eighth consecutive series, something they had only done in 1977.

Tommy Hunter (4-0) allowed one run and five hits over six innings for Texas.

Cubs 8, White Sox 6

CHICAGO (AP) - The White Sox's 11-game winning streak came to an end when a ninth-inning rally fell short.

The White Sox scored three times in the bottom of the ninth. But Alex Rios struck out swinging against Carlos Marmol with runners at first and second to finish it. The White Sox had their longest winning string since a 12-game run in June 1961.

Paul Konerko hit his 20th homer for the White Sox, tying Frank Thomas' club record with 11 seasons of 20 or more.

Tyler Colvin's three-run shot off John Danks (7-6) in the third gave the Cubs a lead.

Ryan Dempster (6-6) went seven innings as the Cubs won for the third time in nine games.

Diamondbacks 2, Rays 1

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) - Tampa Bay stars Evan Longoria and B.J. Upton had to be separated in a dugout dispute after Gerardo Parra hit a two-run homer in the fifth inning that helped Arizona beat the Rays.

Rodrigo Lopez and three relievers combined on a two-hitter for the Diamondbacks, who took two of three from the Rays. On Friday night, Edwin Jackson no-hit Tampa Bay, which had seven hits in the series.

Longoria, the third baseman, and Upton, the center fielder, were seen arguing in the dugout after the Diamondbacks went ahead in the fifth. Several teammates stepped in between the two, and Willy Aybar wrapped his arms around Upton while separating the two.

Lopez (4-6) scattered two hits, walked five and struck out three. Wade Davis (5-9) was the loser.

Mets 6, Twins 0

NEW YORK (AP) - Jeff Francoeur and David Wright each hit a two-run homer in a victory over Minnesota.

Ike Davis also went deep - very, very deep - and the Mets racked up 14 hits to back the fourth straight win by Jonathon Niese (5-2) since coming off the disabled list.

Francoeur finished a triple shy of the cycle, emphatically ending a 3-for-22 slide. Wright and Jesus Feliciano also had three hits as the Mets completed interleague play with a 13-5 mark, their most victories against AL teams in one year.

Scott Baker (6-7) struck out six but gave up 11 hits, his most since yielding the same amount Sept. 5, 2007, against Cleveland.

Red Sox 5, Giants 1

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - Jon Lester pitched a five-hitter, David Ortiz splashed a home run into McCovey Cove and Boston beat Tim Lincecum.

Lester put the Red Sox ahead for good with a sacrifice fly in the second inning. Adrian Beltre also homered and Marco Scutaro and Bill Hall each hit RBI singles as Boston took the series.

Lincecum (8-3), the two-time reigning NL Cy Young Award winner, was done after a season-low three innings having already thrown 79 pitches. He had a three-start winning streak snapped.

Lester (9-3) struck out nine and walked one.

After the game, the Red Sox learned catcher Victor Martinez has a broken left thumb.

Indians 5, Reds 3

CINCINNATI (AP) - Shin-Soo Choo homered twice off Bronson Arroyo - the second time he's done it this season - and the Cleveland Indians ended their seven-game losing streak.

The Indians traded power hitter Russell Branyan to Seattle for a pair of prospects before the game, conceding this season is a lost cause.

Choo hit a solo homer in the first and a three-run shot in the fifth off Arroyo (7-4), who can't seem to get him out. Choo also homered twice off Arroyo on May 21 during Cincinnati's 7-4 win in Cleveland.

Rookie Mitch Talbot (8-6) held the NL's most prolific lineup to three singles over seven innings.

Tigers 10, Braves 4

ATLANTA (AP) - Rookie Brennan Boesch homered and drove in three runs as Detroit chased Tommy Hanson early.

Boesch hit an RBI single during a five-run fourth inning that finished Hanson (7-5). Boesch added a two-run homer, his 12th of the season and eighth in June, the next inning.

Rookie Austin Jackson had three of Detroit's 17 hits, including a two-run single in the big fourth.

Justin Verlander (9-5) gave up six hits and four runs in seven innings as the Tigers avoided being swept.

Royals 10, Cardinals 3

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - Jason Kendall had a pair of two-run doubles and Jose Guillen stretched his hitting streak to 21 games for Kansas City.

Wilson Betemit hit a three-run homer as the Royals took two of three from their I-70 rivals.

Guillen had two singles, his first glanced off the glove of shortstop Brendan Ryan and drove in a run. His 21-game streak is the longest by a Royal since Rey Sanchez hit in 21 straight in 2001.

Bruce Chen (4-2) wobbled through the first two innings throwing 64 pitches and stranding five baserunners. But the left-hander settled and went five innings.

Rookie left-hander Jaime Garcia (7-4) lasted only two innings plus three batters and was charged with five runs on four hits and two walks.

Orioles 4, Nationals 3

BALTIMORE (AP) - Miguel Tejada singled in the tiebreaking run in the eighth inning, and the Orioles rallied for their season-high fourth straight win.

Baltimore scored the game's final four runs after trailing 3-0 in the fourth.

With the score 3-all in the eighth, Julio Lugo hit a one-out double off Tyler Clippard (8-5) but strayed too far from second base and was picked off by catcher Wil Nieves. Corey Patterson followed with a double, and Tejada singled up the middle to give the Orioles their first lead of the game.

David Hernandez (3-6) struck out both batters he faced and Alfredo Simon worked the ninth for his ninth save.

Brewers 3, Mariners 0

MILWAUKEE (AP) - Chris Narveson pitched four-hit ball for eight innings and Rickie Weeks hit a leadoff homer, lifting the Brewers.

It was the first time the 28-year-old Narveson (7-4) had a scoreless outing in 17 career starts and the longest outing of his three-year career.

Weeks hit a leadoff homer for the 17th time in his career and finished with four hits for the Brewers, who have won six of seven. Rookie John Axford converted his seventh save.

The Mariners had won seven of nine, but showed why they traded for slugger Russell Branyan late Saturday night.

Mariners starter Jason Vargas (6-3) lost for the first time since May 4.

Angels 10, Rockies 3

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) - Brandon Wood hit his first career grand slam and Mike Napoli added a three-run homer for the Angels.

Ervin Santana (8-5) struck out seven in 6 2-3 innings for his second straight victory.

Colorado led 2-0 when the Angels turned three hits and an error into four runs off Jhoulys Chacin (4-7) in the fourth inning. Napoli highlighted the rally with his 13th home run.

Chacin struck out a career-high 12 in six innings.

Wood's grand slam keyed a five-run outburst in the eighth.

Athletics 3, Pirates 2

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) - Kurt Suzuki homered with two outs in the eighth inning after a dropped foul popup and the Athletics handed Pittsburgh its 17th straight road loss.

With the score 2-all, Pirates reliever Evan Meek (3-2) struck out the first two batters in the eighth. Suzuki followed with a pop that catcher Jason Jaramillo dropped for an error. Two pitches later, Suzuki hit his 10th home run.

Craig Breslow (3-1) pitched the eighth to pick up the win. Andrew Bailey pitched the ninth for his 14th save.

Lastings Milledge hit a home run and Jose Tabata also drove in a run for the Pirates, who finished 2-13 in interleague play.

Padres 4, Marlins 2

MIAMI, Fla. (AP) - Will Venable hit a tiebreaking two-run home run in the eighth inning, and the San Diego completed three-game sweep.

Venable connected on a 2-2 pitch from Brian Sanches (0-1), driving the ball just inside the right-field pole for his eighth homer of the season and breaking a 2-all tie. It was his third tiebreaking homer since Wednesday night and fourth homer in seven games.

Ryan Webb (3-1) worked 1 1-3 innings in relief of Mat Latos for the win. Edward Mujica got two outs and Luke Gregerson earned his first save of the season with a scoreless ninth.
