Summer masquerade benefits Opera House

Piper's Summer Masquerade, scheduled for 7-11 p.m. July 10, will benefit the preservation efforts of Piper's Opera House in Virginia City.

This is an adult-only costume event featuring live music by The Mount Rose Trio with Freddie Pierce, Jimmy Vermilion and Danny Steele along with Gus the Dance Master. The group performs music that includes 1800s folk songs, '20s ragtime, '40s jitterbug, '50s swing and bop as well as country classics and pop.

There will be a costume contest for the Most Elaborately Dressed Guests. Masks will be available for sale at the event.

Cost of benefit is $18 at the door, which includes appetizers and desserts. A cash bar will be available.
