Obituary: Lois J. Hinkel

Lois J. Hinkel, 89, a Carson City resident for 35 years, died March 1, 2010.  She was born July 12, 1920, in Pasadena, Calif., to Edwin and Eleonore (Cook) Whitney.  She grew up in Los Angeles and finished two years of Business Administration at University of California Los Angeles. 

She married Heinz Hinkel December 1940 who preceded her in death.  Lois and Heinz moved to the Bay Area in the fifties, where they raised their children.  They moved to Carson City in 1971.  Lois and Heinz opened K & H Tile Co.  Lois became an active member of Soroptimist International of Carson City where she held the offices of Treasurer and President. 

 

She is survived by son Kurt Hinkel and very dear friend Amy Branstetter of Carson City; daughters and son-in-laws Jackie and Ray Zaro of Carson City and Geri and Skip Jones of Sonora, Calif., six grandchildren and eight grandsons. 

Memorial donations may be made to the Soroptimist International of Carson City. 

A private service will be held.  FitzHenry's Funeral Home and Crematory is caring for arrangements.
