River committee to discuss invasive species

The Carson River Advisory Committee meets at noon Wednesday in the Sierra Room of the Carson City Community Center, 851 E. William St.

The committee will hear a presentation from Ted Thayer, the aquatic invasive species program manager for the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency.

Thayer will provide information on invasive aquatic invertebrate species which could pose a threat to the Carson River in order to help educate the committee.

Some of the species to be discussed will be the quagga mussels, zebra mussels, New Zealand mud snails and Asian clams.
