Westmont choir and strings to give concert in Carson City

The Westmont College Choir and String Quartet will appear at the First Presbyterian Church of Carson City on Friday, May 14.

The choir's stop in Carson City is part of its Western states tour.

Christian Women's Club May meeting scheduled

The May meeting for Sierra Christian Women's Club will be 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesday, May 18 at Tamarack Junction, 13101 S. Virginia St., Reno.

The background, growth, and progress of Reno Little Theatre is the featured presentation.

The guest speaker is Teresa Daniels, a lively communications trainer, will share how to get the best ever makeover for free.

Sound meditation journey planned at yoga studio

A Sound Journey into the Sacred Heart with a Tibetan bowl and gong meditation will take place 7-8:30 p.m., Friday, May 14 at Kula Kula Kula Yoga Studio, 343 Fairview St. Unit 204 (upstairs), near Lowe's in Carson City.

The journey delves into the hidden realms of the psyche, unlocking doors for the process of coming back to ourselves.

The transforming frequencies flow like currents of life-giving water, in and around your body, assisting in your inner exploration.

Journey Harasin, sound master and ceremonialist, has been facilitating transformation through sound since 2002. She lives in Gardnerville and hosts monthly community Full Moon Gong Immersions.

Meditation retreat planned at St. Mary's Art Center

A Residential Meditation Retreat, focusing on death and dying is planned for the weekend of May 14-16 at St. Mary's Art Center in Virginia City.

Qell-known Buddhist teacher, Marv Treiger Ph.D. MFT, will lead the retreat.

"There is no way to avoid aging, illness and death. So then, how must we train? One way - the way of this retreat - is to contemplate the way it really is for us by way of the wisdom teachings," Marv Treiger says.

St. Mary's was a hospital during the Comstock days of the silver mines. It's been restored and has a wonderful atmosphere for retreats. It is possible to attend for a day, instead of the whole weekend.
