Western Nevada concluded the Scenic West Athletic Conference regular season with a sweep of Colorado Northwestern, 4-1 and 8-3, Saturday afternoon at John L. Harvey Field.

The sweep gave WNC the second spot in the SWAC and the all important first-round bye along with regular-season champion Southern Nevada. Salt Lake was a half-game behind WNC with a 27-12 record.

The double-elimination conference tournament starts Wednesday at Southern Nevada College with Colorado Northwestern facing Salt Lake Community and College of Southern Idaho meeting Eastern Utah.

The Wildcats used four pitchers in the opener - Jake Waardenburg, Tim Petersen, Dyllon Nuernberg and Kody Gorden.

Brooks Klein and Spencer Ofelt delivered run-scoring hits to spark the Wildcats in the first game.

WNC trailed 3-2 in the fourth inning, but hits by Kevin Taylor and Jay Skilton gave WNC the lead for good at 5-3.
