Dodgers 1, Padres 0

SAN DIEGO (AP) - Russell Martin's RBI single was one of only two hits for the Los Angeles Dodgers, who beat the first-place San Diego Padres 1-0 on Sunday for a three-game sweep and their season-high seventh straight victory.

The Dodgers, playing again without Andre Ethier, won for the 12th time in 15 games.

Chad Billingsley (4-2) shut down the Padres over 7 1-3 innings, allowing just four singles, striking out six and walking one. Jonathan Broxton pitched a perfect ninth for his third save.

Padres starter Wade LeBlanc (2-1) allowed only two baserunners the first five innings, both on walks, and one of them was erased in a double play.

Phillies 4, Brewers 2

MILWAUKEE (AP) - Cole Hamels pitched into the seventh inning despite giving up back-to-back home runs and Philadelphia completed a three-game sweep of the Brewers.

Hamels helped out on offense, too, delivering a sharp RBI double in the second.

Casey McGehee and Corey Hart homered for the Brewers, who also were swept at home by the Atlanta Braves this week.

Hamels (4-2) held the Brewers scoreless until McGehee homered the sixth. Hart followed with a drive of his own, cutting the Phillies lead to 3-2. But that was all the Brewers could muster off Hamels, who gave up six hits with three walks and three strikeouts in 6 2-3 innings.

It was a serviceable start on short notice for Milwaukee's Dave Bush (1-4), whose turn in the rotation was moved up when scheduled starter Doug Davis was scratched earlier in the day.

Davis has been diagnosed with pericarditis, an inflammation of the membrane surrounding the heart.

Giants 4, Astros 3

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - Barry Zito earned his sixth win of the season, Aaron Rowand hit a go-ahead home run in the sixth inning and the Giants finished a three-game sweep.

Andres Torres homered, doubled and scored twice for the Giants, who have won eight straight games against the Astros dating to 2009. Zito (6-1) rebounded nicely from his only loss of the season, scattering six hits over seven innings while striking out four with one walk.

Brian Wilson pitched around two hits to earn his nith save.

Carlos Lee homered for Houston, which has lost three straight following a season-high four-game winning streak. Brett Myers (2-3) went eight innings for the loss.

Rockies 2, Nationals 1

DENVER (AP) - Brad Hawpe hit a go-ahead sacrifice fly in the eighth, and Colorado won after Jeff Francis threw seven sharp innings in his first start since September 2008.

The Rockies scored their first run of the game on Miguel Olivo's sacrifice fly.

Pinch hitter Seth Smith began their winning rally in the eighth by drawing a walk off Tyler Clippard (7-2). Carlos Gonzalez singled, Dexter Fowler bunted and Hawpe hit a deep fly ball.

Matt Belisle (1-0) pitched the eighth and Manuel Corpas the ninth for his second save.

Reds 7, Cardinals 2

CINCINNATI (AP) - Scott Rolen homered and drove in three runs, helping the surging Reds move a half game ahead of St. Louis following their seventh win in eight games.

The Reds haven't been in first place this deep into a season since June 8, 2006.

Rolen hit a two-run homer and a run-scoring single off Brad Penny (3-4), who had never lost at Great American Ball Park. Bronson Arroyo (3-2) pitched his first complete game - a seven-hitter - and added a bases-loaded single.

Cubs 4, Pirates 3

CHICAGO (AP) - Pinch-hitter Xavier Nady lined a go-ahead single in the eighth inning and the Cubs rallied to their first victory over the Pirates after seven straight losses.

Alfonso Soriano singled off D.J. Carrasco (1-1) with one out in the eighth, stole second and went to third on a wild pitch. After Geovany Soto drew a two-out walk, Nady singled to right field for his first pinch-hit since July 19, 2008 - when he was with the Pirates.

Nady had been 0 for 9 as a pinch-hitter this season.

Sean Marshall (2-1) worked a scoreless eighth in relief of Ted Lilly for the win.

Marlins 10, Mets 8

MIAMI (AP) - Pinch-hitter Chris Coghlan hit a three-run homer in the seventh inning and the Marlins completed their first four-game sweep since August 2006.

Two Mets errors helped the Marlins score four unearned runs en route to a 7-0 lead. New York cut the margin to 7-6 before Coghlan's homer off Fernando Nieve.

Mets left-hander Jonathon Niese (1-2) departed after re-injuring his right hamstring, which required season-ending surgery last Aug. 6. He'll return to New York for further evaluation.

Ricky Nolasco (4-2) allowed two earned runs in six innings for the win.

Braves 13, Diamondbacks 1

ATLANTA (AP) - Tim Hudson gave up three hits in eight innings and Martin Prado hit two home runs to lead the Braves to their fifth win in six games.

Prado had four hits and drove in three runs, while Eric Hinske and Troy Glaus also had homers for Atlanta. The Braves finished with 14 hits while Arizona managed only the three.

Hudson (4-1) improved to 3-0 in May with his longest start of the season. He struck out six and walked only one batter, while also getting two hits and driving in a run.

Dan Haren (4-3) lasted only 4 1-3 innings, allowing seven runs - six earned.
