Police are looking for a man who approached a 10-year-old girl Wednesday afternoon and asked her to get into his truck after she got off her school bus.
Carson City Sheriff's Deputy Jessica Rivera said a group of eight elementary school students were each interviewed separately and said the same thing - a man in a white Chevy pickup truck with black rims was seen near their bus stop at Saliman and Robinson streets both in the morning and afternoon for the past three days.
On Wednesday, as the group walked across the east end of Mills Park, the truck followed them and the driver asked one of the girls to
get in.
Rivera said the 10-year-old girl became frightened and ran from the group. As the truck rounded Seely Loop again, the driver asked the girl's brother where his sister went.
The boy told the driver to go away, and the whole group ran, Rivera said.
The siblings went home and told their aunt, who called police at 12:59 p.m. Classes at the elementary school were a half day on Wednesday, which would suggest the suspect knew the school's schedule.
Rivera said the man is described as between 30 and 40 years old. He was wearing a white shirt and black pants, which the children saw because they were standing on a berm. He is also described as having tan skin and wrinkles on his face and arms. The Chevy pick up is described as a newer model. There is a Raiders sticker in the rear passenger-side window.
Anyone with information on the suspect is asked to call Carson City's non-emergency dispatch number at 887-2007.
