HOUSTON (AP) - The University of Houston says it hasn't been contacted by the Big East Conference as a potential addition to the football members in the league.

Presidents in the Big East agreed Tuesday to expand the number of schools who play football to 10 at their board of directors meeting.

The Big East currently has eight teams playing football and Houston as well as TCU and Central Florida are among the teams thought to be potential expansion targets.

In a statement released Wednesday, Houston denied contact from the Big East and says the school is "a proud member of Conference USA and enjoys its affiliation with the other 11 member institutions."

UCF released a statement earlier Wednesday also denying any contact with the Big East.
