Canvass of vote to be presented to supervisors

Clerk Recorder Alan Glover will go before the Carson City Board of Supervisors on Wednesday for approval of the canvass of the vote for the 2010 general election. The canvass determines that the number of votes cast and the number of signatures in the poll books match.

State law requires the board of supervisors to canvass the vote seven working days after the election.

Other city meetings scheduled for the coming week include:

• The Parks and Recreation Commission will meet at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Bonanza Room of the community center.

The commission will hear staff updates on the Fuji Park Dog Park project, the Arling-ton Square Ice Skating Rink and the status of the proposed Lodging Tax increase by the Carson City Conven-tion & Visitors Bureau.

Commissioners also will hear a presentation regarding the Foundation for the Betterment of Parks and Recreation Awards, and are scheduled to take action to recommend to the board of supervisors a name for the Urban Fishing Pond located at Fuji Park.

They also could recommend approval of the Question 18 Quality of Life Parks capital and maintenance funds carry-overs.

• The Carson Area Metropolitan Planning Organization will meet at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Sierra Room of the community center. The board is scheduled to approve the CAMPO fiscal year 2011-14 Transportation Improvement Program and the Unified Planning Work Program for fiscal year 2011.

• The Carson City Regional Transportation Commission will meet immediately following the 4:30 CAMPO meeting Wednesday in the Sierra Room of the community center.
