YERINGTON - Yerington continued its winning way rolling into the state tournament without losing a game.
On Saturday, Yerington defeated Incline, 25-21, 25-15 and 25-19, in the semifinals and then bested Whittell, 25-18, 29-27, 25-18 in the finals.
Whittell actually held a lead late in the second game, but the Lions rallied back for the win.
Leading Yerington was Brooke Aiazzi with 14 kills, seven digs, an assist and three aces; Makenna Lommori with 10 kills, eight digs, 23 assists and four blocks; Alex Roberts had nine kills and an a block; Katie Nicholas had three kills and three blocks; Maddie Hull-Taylor had two kills, five digs and an ace; Amber Veil added seven digs and an ace; and Liz Rogers had four digs and 13 assists.
Against Incline, Lommori had 17 kills, six digs and 24 assists; Aiazzi had 14 kills; 12 digs, two assists; Roberts had eight kills and five blocks; Hull-Taylor had five kills and 12 digs; Nicholas had two kills; Veil had six digs and an ace; Rogers had five digs and 16 assists.
Yerington plays in the state tournament Friday at Bishop Manogue High School.
In 1A volleyball, Sierra Lutheran lost to Owyhee, 25-18, 25-14 and 27-25 on Friday. No other information was submitted.
