Capital Ford donated $6,000 to the girls basketball and soccer teams at Carson High School on Tuesday.

It's the third donation the Carson City auto dealer has given to Carson High School athletics since October 2009.

Girls varsity basketball coach Todd Ackerman said the money will go toward travel and tournament fees for the varsity, junior varsity and freshmen teams.

"It helps us out a great deal," Ackerman said. "I can pay some bills, which is huge."

Randy Rosser, the varsity girls soccer coach, said the money will go toward uniforms, equipment and tournaments.

"For Capital Ford to come out and give us a chance to do this is great," Rosser said.

Capital Ford General Manager Tim Milligan said the money was raised by the Drive One For Your School event through Ford. The automaker donated $20 for every one of the 300 test drives during the event.

"We'll continue to support it as long as we can," he said.
