Davis throws 5 TD passes in ECU's 54-42 win

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Dominique Davis threw for 331 yards and five touchdowns to give East Carolina a 54-42 win over UAB on Thursday night.

The Pirates (6-4, 5-1 Conference USA) became bowl-eligible. They trailed 42-34 with less than nine minutes to play, but a 56-yard punt return and a fumbled kickoff by UAB helped them close the gap quickly.

Jonathan Williams had five catches for 115 yards and 14 carries for 82 yards and another score for East Carolina.

Bryan Ellis threw for 418 yards and five touchdowns for the Blazers (3-7, 2-4).

The teams put up 1,041 yards of total offense.
