BLM hosting public workshop on ranch transfer

The Bureau of Land Management, Carson City District-Sierra Front Field Office, is hosting an informal public workshop from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at the District Office, 5665 Morgan Mill Road, to present a draft conservation easement being reserved by BLM for the Silver Saddle Ranch in Carson City.

Congress passed the Omnibus Public Lands Management Act of 2009 which included direction to BLM to transfer Silver Saddle Ranch and certain land parcels adjacent to the Carson River to the City of Carson City with the reservation of a conservation easement. The conservation easement would be retained by the United States to ensure that the lands transferred would be managed in accordance with the Act. A draft conservation easement has been prepared by BLM and its stakeholders for Silver Saddle Ranch that is now ready for public review.

For more information, call Dan Jacquet, BLM community liaison, at 885-6116.
