A bear in town: The young grizzly bear is in the city fresh from his success on the Comstock. It is proposed to match him with Miss Clapp's big bull dog (at a bear/dog fight at Moore's Theater in Carson). Miss Clapp was asked if the dog could be borrowed for a few days to fight bears with. "Why, certainly," was the reply. "Just unchain him and take him down." The man attempted to unchain the monster. Without success, the man departed quickly having to stop at Bosko's merchant tailor shop to ask how much they would charge to put a patch in his pants about two feet square.

120 YEARS AGO

Jolly wedding: Mr. P. Lauzon of Virginia and Miss A. Chouinard were married at Circe's Hotel by Rev. Father Sheridan, the Catholic priest. The occasion brought together the French Four Hundred and the western part of the state. Wedding gifts ... silver castor from D. Circle; a gold cast cream pitcher, Mrs. Spooner; a gold thimble, Willie Circe.

70 YEARS AGO

Seen, Heard or Thought: The Lions of Carson with cooperation from city and county authorities have carried on as an annual project an ice pond that gave pleasure to skaters of all ages.
