A five-year holiday tradition returns to the region with Sierra Nevada Classical Guitar Holiday concerts.
Hosted by the Sierra Nevada Guitar Society the Carson City concert will be at 7 p.m. Dec. 2 at the Brewery Arts Center Grand Ballroom, 449 W. King St.
Additional concerts will take place at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity Episcopal Church, 200 Island Ave. in Reno; 7 p.m. Dec. 3 at the Carson Valley Art Bar, 1572 Highway 395, Minden; and 7:30 p.m. Dec. 29 at the Squaw Valley Chapel, 444 Squaw Peak Road, Olympic Valley, Calif.
Featured guitarists include Antoniy Kakamakov, from Bulgaria, one of the finest young musicians in the classical guitar world; Chris Hague who is enrolled in the bachelor of music program at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music; Larry Aynesmith is founder of the Sierra Nevada Classical Guitar Festival; and Andrew Ohren, an acclaimed classical guitarist from Plumas County.
This year features the magnificent Bach Chaconne performed by Antoniy Kakamakov, Vivaldi Concerto for Two Guitars, Fandango by Luigi Boccherini, music by Adam Falckenhagen from the Baroque era, a Christmas Medley, and more. Included are classical guitar solos, duos and quartets.
All concerts are free, however, a $15 to $20 donation is strongly suggested to help fund future programs.
