The Nevada State Museum will be operating the Historic Coin Press No. 1 from 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m. Friday.

Chief Coiner Ken Hopple will be demonstrating how coins are made and how the unique coin press operates. He will be minting medallions out of both .999 fine silver and brass that can be purchased by the public right at the coin press.

In addition, the Nevada Division of the National Pony Express will be present as well to tell the public about the history of the Pony Express, which operated from 1860 to 1861.

They will have available at their table the 150th Anniversary Pony Express silver medallions for sale.

The medallions will not be minted after this year and this might be your last chance to purchase one before the new year.

The museum is at 600 N. Carson St. For more information, call 687-4810.
