LAS VEGAS (AP) - A Nevada National Guardsman has been arrested and held in an Abu Dhabi prison for transporting firearm accessories.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported Monday that 23-year-old Nicholas Moody was arrested on Veterans Day as he was trying to leave the capital of the United Arab Emirates.
The Review-Journal says airport officials found firearm accessories stowed in Moody's luggage.
Moody recently served in Afghanistan through the Nevada National Guard before becoming an armed guard for a private contractor in Iraq. He was returning to his Reno home when he was arrested.
His mother told the Review-Journal that her son did not know he was committing a crime because laws vary from nation to nation and he used the firearm accessories for work.
