LAS VEGAS (AP) - Online retailer Zappos.com has made an offer to purchase Las Vegas City Hall and relocate its corporate headquarters to the sprawling downtown complex.

Mayor Oscar B. Goodman announced Monday that Zappos wants to turn City Hall and seven surrounding acres into its new corporate campus.

The City Council is slated to vote on the deal Wednesday.

The city was already preparing to relocate to another downtown building in 2012 and had plans to sell its current building to a sports arena developer. Those plans were scrapped earlier this month.

Goodman says Zappos would claim City Hall after city employees have transferred into their new offices.

It would be a short move for Zappos, which is currently located in the nearby suburb of Henderson.
