(AP) - Anyone wanting to register by mail or online to vote in Nevada's upcoming election needs to act quickly.

Mailed registrations must be postmarked by today. Online registrations, available to new voters in Clark County, must be submitted by midnight.

After that, people will have to register in person at their county clerk's or registrar's office by 9 p.m. Oct. 12.

Early voting in Nevada begins Oct. 16.

Officials say 1,738 people registered online to vote in September. The online registration is a pilot project launched Sept. 1 in Clark County. Of those, 588 registered Republican; 536 nonpartisan; and 416 Democrat.
