Post office charges for extras, yet still in the red

The post office says it is losing money? How can the post office be losing any money when it charges for all these extra services that are supposed to guarantee your mail? I personally am out hundreds of dollars, with insurance, delivery confirmation etc.

Packages get mailed in Carson City but they don't seem to leave. Packages come into Carson City but they don't seem to get delivered. Yet no one knows anything except to say, "Please fill out this form."

Sounds like an inside job going on if you ask me. Never had any problems until about four months ago, so who would like to do the math on that and see what else has gone missing in the last four months?

Oh, that's right, you need to fill out another form to do that.

Lack of action on energy dependence

Where to begin when talking about energy? How about energy independence equals economic control, which equals economic stability and security.

Had Congress legislated the development of alternative energies and fuels and increased our own oil and natural gas production shortly after the 1973-74 Saudi oil embargo, we would have been energy independent 15 years ago. Alternative energies and fuels would be online, and oil usage would be down. These issues were discussed.

What we got instead was a smaller economy trillions of dollars lighter in revenue, massive national debt, a dollar that's now worth 61 cents, and roughly 100 million displaced men, women and children. Our present economic strength is now 60 percent dependent on the service industry. Our 80 percent dependence on foreign oil and natural gas in 2007, and its ever-increasing cost, finally stopped our economy. The cost of living-to-wage ratio became too great.

In any event, this mess can still be corrected. In 2007, energy experts told Congress that energy independence could be achieved in 10 years, as previously outlined, and without undue interference from the Environmental Protection Agency. This would also include the upgrading of our national power grid, for both energy and national security reasons. Unfortunately, November elections will either make or break this country for good.
